LEONIE CAMERON
she/her | b. 1997, Nottingham | based in Margate
Leonie Cameron’s practice focuses on themes of protection, care and resistance through a queer lens. She communicates these key themes through the material combination of soft textile and hard aspects such as cast objects and metal display methods, employing both the physical and conceptual use of softness and hardness within her work- allowing one to be both delicate and gentle whilst also being strong and defiant.
Over the course of her recently completed MA in Sculpture, Leonie’s work has become more three-dimensionally driven, using knit and textile work in subversive ways to navigate working spatially with non-traditional sculptural materials.
